Great Experience with our house. The team did a full wire and trim for an all electric new construction and installed a 14kW solar system.

Thank you for the 5-star review! We love our Colorado community, and it means so much when you take the time to let us know how we did. We're here to help in the future if we can be of service.

Can I put less than one star? Service is lacking- how hard is it to return a call??? We spent all this money with them on solar and can't get them to service. We found out that our system wasn't working right when we needed it after Xcel shut everyone down.
Yes the install seemed good. The service- not so muchHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Hi Susan - Oh my gosh, I'm sorry we have not responded to you. I spoke with the team, and we're having trouble finding your voice message. I would love to connect with you and help you out. If you would send me an email at renee@solarips.com, I know we can resolve this. Our customers are our priority.

IPS installed a 4.5kW SunPower PV system on my roof in late 2006, and it's consistently generated its design specification of an average of 550 kWhr/month since then, every year for the past 13 years, literally maintenance- and incidence-free.
After increasing my home's efficiency (mostly by replacing incandescent bulbs with LEDs for 1/10th their power cost), my home now uses sufficiently less electricity to power my electric car, so in addition to satisfying all my electric-power needs for the first ten years with the rooftop array, I'm now actually driving on sunlight too.
Though I'm always happy to see IPS employees - they were great to work with during the design and installation of my system 13 years ago - I'm ecstatic I haven't had to call them out to deal with anything associated with my array since then. Mine really has been an install, power-up, and forget experience with their SunPower PV technology. I couldn't possibly be happier.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - David S.San Francisco, CA01Oct 25, 2019
This company (IPS) had great online reviews, HOWEVER, I received horrible service the first contact I had with them. My initial appointment was at 9am today, 10/25/19, and I had planned my day around it. No show by 9:15 so I called the office and was told I'd be contacted within 5 minutes. About 9:35, I received an email from Phil (the guy who apparently was suppose to come to my home) stating he would call within an hour. 4 hours later, I was tired of waiting and called him and left another message. He did call me back soon after, and I asked him about the appointment. He said I could reschedule next week, but when I pressed him about why the missed appointment this morning and why I had waited all day for this information, he hung up on me. I had been quite polite.

Hi David, thank you for letting us know. We apologize you had this experience, as it is not typical for our customers. Unfortunately, there were a few other circumstances at play, which we must take full responsibility for as a company. One of our other lead salespeople was just hospitalized and he will be out of commission for the next few months. This immediately doubled Phil's workload until additional support is found. I sincerely apologize that you had a poor experience with Phil and we hope that you can see why he wasn't able to show up at his best for you and call you back as quickly as you had hoped. We have made the appropriate changes to ensure this will not happen again.
We are deeply committed to keeping the quality level of our customer service as high as possible. I sincerely appreciate your feedback, David. We can and will take measures to change this and get more solar panels out there, providing even more clean energy for the planet. - annette j.West Roxbury, MA84Oct 29, 2021
Independent Power Systems may be great in other parts of the country, but they are not good in the Northeast. I have had their solar panels for 6 years. Since the beginning, there have been technical/maintenance problems. It took close to a year to get my panels working properly, and the local branch manager was peripatetic in his responsiveness, technical abilities, customer service. Then, we went through a long period of turn over in branch managers or no branch managers. IPS also decided somewhere, along the way, to contract out onsite technical work to Apex. Their staff seem of mixed abilities and customer service skills. Most recently, I needed to have my solar panels taken off to replace my roof. They were re-installed 3 months ago and haven't worked since. In fairness, I just realized this a month ago. I called the local branch manager for over a week. No response. Guess what? He left the company 2 months ago, although his picture is still on the website. I learned this when I called the Colorado office. So, now, the Colorado office is trying to manage my problem, as there is no branch manager in New England. When one calls Apex, they never answer the phone nor do they call back. Nor do they show up when they say they're going to show up or call to say what's going on. Now, I'm being told that my systems needs a part that's no longer made, and IPS will try to find it. When I asked "What happens if you can't find it?", I was brushed off. When I asked, "Why wasn't this detected when the panels were re-installed?", I was told, "That's not what they were there for." My response, "Shouldn't they have checked the system to see if it was working before they left?" No answer. I am frustrated, upset, and wondering why I made such a big investment in solar panels, as I pay an electric bill each month. If you are thinking about solar panels, DO NOT buy from this company. My experience is that it's nothing but aggravation, poor performance, and difficult communication.

I had IPS install a system on my home in Boulder. From the beginning I felt safe using their service because they have been around for a while, and was told they don't take shortcuts. They installed some amazing Sun Power panels that look great with the "black on black" clean look, and ran the electrical work through the attic so you can't see it. They even put on a very durable "squirrel guard" that I didn't know I needed, but made a lot of sense. Keep up the great work. It's nice to know in a very competitive marketplace like solar, they will go the extra mile to do all the things necessary for a long-lasting beautiful system. My electrical bill is now $7 per month, 100% of which is taxes. Thanks for a great system.

Our system (panels, inverter, and monitor) has been up and running since 2010. Everything delivered as promised. Extremely skilled tradesmen handled each aspect of the installation (electrical, construction, roofing, and internet connection for monitoring). Easy to use - no maintenance. Can monitor electricity generation anywhere with my cell phone. Getting 95%-100% of our power from the system. The system was generating more than 100% before the purchase of an electric car (which charges about 3 hours a day, consuming more electricity - but it's nice to download cheap fuel from the panels as easy as downloading a movie). The panels continued working flawlessly through two hail storms that destroyed the roof tiles - wish we could cover our entire roof with the panels. We will absolutely buy another system from INDEPENDENT POWER SYSTEMS if we ever move to a new house!
