In January 2018, Dr. Seldomridge began serving as the Secretary for Communications for the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Prior to that, she held numerous Academy positions, beginning with the Young Ophthalmologists’ Committee. She commenced this position in 2003 as the member-in-training while still a resident at Duke University Eye Center, and remained there until 2007. She also Co-Chaired the Sub-Committee for the YO Program at the Annual Meeting while serving on this committee. From 2008-2011 Dr. Seldomridge served on the Board of the American Academy of Ophthalmic Executives as the Young Ophthalmologist Representative to that organization. Following that she served on the Academy’s Marketing Task Force from 2011-2012. From 2013-2017 Dr. Seldomridge served on the Communications Secretariat and Chaired the Product Advisory Committee. She also serves as a clinical spokesperson for the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and is a Volunteer Oral Board Examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology.

In 2000, Dr. Seldomridge received a combined MD, MBA from the Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons and Columbia Business School, where she was elected into the Beta Gamma Sigma National Honor Society. Following her graduate education, she completed residency training in ophthalmology at the Duke University Eye Center in Durham, NC. She then pursued fellowship training in Cornea, Cataract and Refractive Surgery at Chicago Cornea Consultants, in Chicago, IL.

Dr. Seldomridge has received numerous honors, including the Achievement Award, 2011, The Secretariat Award, 2008 and 2017 and The Edith and Denton McKane Memorial Award from the Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons in 2000.  She resides in North Carolina with her husband, an orthopaedic spine surgeon, and their two children.
